Director Inbound Logistics
Overview:
The Head of Inbound Logistics is responsible for movement of products supply from our global manufacturing and sourcing locations to Affiliate Distribution centres and Direct Import customer consolidation centres. This role will also be responsible for negotiating and managing all inbound freight and logistics contracts across multiple internal logistics partners. They will lead the global inbound logistics function including end to end inbound operations including product consolidation, inland transportation/ drayage, as well as carrier performance management. They will also be a change leader to support the transformation of logistics function and develop KPI’s and reporting metrics for the inbound organisation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent curriculum. Master’s degree in Business or Supply Chain highly preferred but not required
- A green or black belt certification would be a definite asset.
- Prior experience working as an Ocean Transportation Intermediaries (OTI) and or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) would be an asset as would be experience gained working at one of the top container ports such as Shanghai, Singapore, or Shenzhen or such in container or vessel planning operation would be a major asset
- Experience managing cost and operational performance of multiple external logistics partners freight forwarders, ocean carriers, consolidators, transload operators, dray carriers, and transportation management service providers to drive cost and service performance through right set of KPI’s
- Prior experience managing logistics transportation function for a global organization with a total spend of over $100M spread across multiple functions within inbound/outbound logistics.
- Prior experience managing consolidation for a forwarder and or 3PL operation in Asia would be an asset including intimate knowledge of forwarding operation within China, Vietnam and India
- 15+ years of logistics and/or supply chain experience managing inbound operation within a company with a complex and diverse outsourced manufacturing operation spread across multiple geographies.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, exceptional focus to details, compliance excellence as well demonstrated ability to control costs without sacrificing service or quality.
- Travel – About 10-15% (post Covid) travel will be required, including international travel, often with short notice to address any business-critical issues.
